The brief and the build
The brief for this project was to create a modern, functional outdoor space that the whole family could enjoy year-round. Working closely with the clients, we collaborated to design a layout that maximised usability while incorporating layered textures to add visual interest and definition throughout the garden.
The design focused on creating multiple zones for relaxation and entertaining, allowing the space to comfortably host family and friends. Key features include a raised pergola overlooking the pool, Millboard bench seating, and a cantilevered Millboard deck platform that enhances the connection to the pool area and alfresco dining space.
A tropical, low-maintenance planting palette was selected to soften the strong architectural elements of stone, tile, timber and rendered walls, creating balance between the softscape and hardscape.
To complete the design, front fencing was introduced to create a private yet welcoming entry while maintaining the same material palette and style as the backyard, ensuring a cohesive flow across the entire property.
The result is a contemporary outdoor environment designed for effortless entertaining, minimal maintenance, and everyday family living.
Cantilevered Deck and Raised Pergola
A Millboard deck platform extends over the pool area while a raised pergola creates an elevated entertaining zone, giving the space a layered, resort-style feel.
Front to Back, One Seamless Palette
The same material language flows from the front fencing through to the backyard, tying the entire property together into one cohesive outdoor environment.
